If you own a dog you have experienced the sad moment of leaving your dog alone in the house without nothing to do. This has become a real problem because dogs become anxious, and tend to develop destructive behavior. Since this was a semester long project we were able to follow the design process from deciding on an area to explore, to creating a final product. We used lean methodology to find and test our MVP.
Our team consisted of a mix of dog lovers and drone enthusiasts so we thought, “hey why not explore those field.” It turns out there is a need for busy pet owners to feel more secure about leaving their dogs at home. Not only is their a user need but there is space in the market for it.
We found that there are already companies out there attempting to bridge the gap between busy owners and their dogs but are failing to make it a two-sided form of interaction.
Due to the fact we were using the lean startup approach we had to prototype every week. We prototyped everything from whether or not dogs would like a robotic toy, to the form of the actual product.
The final product was an interactive dog toy that let busy dog owners play with their dogs from anywhere using their smartphone or mobile device.
